Who is Mrs. Aiello?

This is my 11th year in District 89. I have taught 4th and 5th grade and this is my third year as Arbor View's Challenge teacher. I believe in educating the whole child and feel that relationships are the key to my classroom.  My students are held to high expectations and then given the guidance to achieve. We use a lot of inquiry and problem based learning to achieve our goals.  I am a graduate of Ball State University, with an Honors Degree and Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I then went on to study Math Education and get my Master's degree from National Louis University.  I am also a certified gifted and talented specialist. In 2017, I passed my National Board Certification and am now a Nationally Board Certified Teacher! Learn more about that here.

Personally, I am married to a wonderful man who works in Special Education at Hadley Junior High. We have one fantastic, old and slightly grouchy chinchilla named Chuck, a bratty, cuddly, cheese-loving dog named Bubba, a loveable dog named Holly and a funny, naughty, loving toddler named Hunter. We enjoy going to concerts, walking the dogs and cooking.  I make time daily to read for pleasure, as it's my favorite activity. I am still learning the fine balance between teacher and mom, but adore my jobs more than you can imagine.

Along with teaching, I co-run the Eco Club with Mr. Nejman which meets during lunch for third-fifth grade two to four times a month. I run the Inside Out Club which meets in the afternoon five times in the fall for 3-5th grade and five times in the spring for K-2nd grade. And just for fun this year we are piloting our first Robotics Teams as an offshoot of our Robotics Summercamp! It's NEVER boring in Mrs. Aiello's world!!!

I'd love to hear from you!
